"Tis the Season!"
November/December 2007

Thank you all who were able to participate in the Steppers Costume Ball Fundraiser – whether through purchasing a ticket, selling tickets, or just spreading the word. Without your support this event would not have happened. Our membership base for this year has grown from 30 solid mothers to 44 mothers. Three years ago we started with 10 members - and all are still with us except two - as they married.

The new SMOC brochure is hot off the press and you will notice some membership changes. Our board voted to include those from 18 years of age and older - along with empty nesters for general membership. FRIENDS of SMOC will include those which support our cause - but do not necessarily want to be members. A portion of their membership will go toward establishing our emergency fund. They will also receive periodic updates, invites, along with our new e-newsletter slated to debut in January 2008.

Remember, the month of November is SMOC Community Service Month. This is an opportunity to recognize how we contribute as single mothers by giving back to others less fortunate than ourselves. Our annual Holiday Celebration will be a family-fun event for all members on Saturday, December 8, 2007.

This is my last writing in this format. The bi-monthly composition will be included in the January 2008 SMOC e-newsletter.
