“Reading, Writing, Arithmetic”
Summer was swift this year and our children are back to school. One of the most important things you can do for your children is to make sure they receive the best education possible. Rather it’s a public school or a private institution of choice – consider yourself engaged in their learning environment. For those of us with younger children, reading to them helps improve their understanding of language. Also, it allows us to read out loud, exercise our reading vocabulary and vocal chords, which may have not been used in quite some time. If you have older children, share with them that you are their number one advocate for them to be successful in school. Share it with them often! The month of September is a busy month for SMOC with the return of “Motherly Moments”, a workshop on journaling, and we continue to dance with SMOC member Audrey Murphy. Coming in October, we continue our SMOC Homeownership 2010 Workshop Series for those interested in owning their own home. Our first SMOC fundraiser will occur on Saturday, October 27th as the “Steppers Costume Ball” and will showcase our organization with a dance routine, best costume, and award recognition. I hope all of you will mark your calendars, plan for babysitters ahead of time, and come out and enjoy a wonderful evening. “I always meditate in the mornings. There’s an answer waiting, if you’re willing to sit still long enough.” (The book titled: Casanegra – page 33) Many Blessings, P.S. Remember
