“Self Care”
January/February 2007
Here we go
again with the New Year Resolutions that start out with a bang and end
with a fizzle. What is one to do?
Cathy, one of my good friends and mentors introduced me to preparing my
own Self Care Plan. A twelve month outcome driven and oriented plan -
focusing on my Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Intellectual, and Financial
schedule of events for the year. It will be an awesome undertaking, but a
much needed healing and cleansing process for me.
We recently met to discuss my plan and I was introduced to a new
restaurant called Karma - an organic vegetarian restaurant located in the
Denver Platte River Neighborhood. Karma is the “first cafe in the Denver
area to serve live, raw foods.” Not that I am turning into a vegan, but I
just like good food – and I added this one to my list of healthy choices.
SMOC has placed another year behind it – and continuing its journey to
serve, educate, and embrace our single motherhood journey. We had a few
home purchases last year – which is a great endeavor within itself. We
have some members struggling to make it mentally, physically, and
financially. However, if we continue to share our stories – we can make
our invisible state – visible to those around us.
