SMOC 2006 THEME: FINDING BALANCE
“Counting Down”
Fall/Winter 2006
We are counting down the time before the 2006 year comes to an end.
Another election year is upon us and miraculously the gas prices have
dropped dramatically. Can we go under $2.00 per gallon before year end?
These are my two best and favorite seasons of the year. Watching the
leaves change, nightfall comes earlier, cooking big pots of soup and
enjoying it with people special and dear to you. SMOC is continuing to
move forward vigorously with success stories, but not without bumps. I
encourage you all to get involved and support the efforts that are taking
place. You are a valued member and your contribution of time, ideas, and
resources, will help design a place in history for this organization.
Keep in the mind, for those of you with children entering school – or
wanting to switch their school; you must complete it before the middle of
December. Otherwise, you may be too late. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time
to get together with family and friends, along with rekindling lost
friendships. “Those that pray together, stay together”.
The upcoming Holiday Season should not be a financial burden. Be creative
in your gift giving, or invite those special to you over for brunch, to
sing carols, and bake cookies. I promise, this will be something
remembered long after a gift - not really wanted is forgotten.
I pray that each one of you have embraced and continue to enjoy the single
motherhood journey. Ida B. Wells once said, “Motherhood is a profession by
itself just like school teaching and lecturing.”
Many Blessings,
Stephanie Cross
